Hamas Unveils Monument to Missiles

March 19, 2014 Last week, as Israel was presenting to the world the haul of weapons caught in passage from Iran to Gaza, Hamas unveiled a statue with a rocket on the top, designed to honor its ability to strike Israel. At the unveiling, a Hamas leader of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades military wing said, “Hamas managed to take the battle to the heart of the Zionist entity (Israel) after developing its rocket system, succeeding where many Arab armies had failed.”

Norwegian Cruise Line Drops Tunisian Port Calls Over Anti-Israel Bias

March 19, 2014 After Tunisia prevented over a dozen Israeli passengers from disembarking from a Norwegian Cruise Line ship, a line based in Miami, announced that it will no longer be making stops in Tunisia. The Israeli passengers were singled out from hundreds of passengers aboard the Norwegian Jade and barred entry to the port of Tunis after the Tunisian government apparently made a last minute decision.

Love Bombing and Rising European Anti-Semitism

March 19, 2014 Members of Sweden’s Liberal Party youth wing organized a “love bombing,” placing cut-out hearts on the doors of a school in Sweden a day after it was covered with Nazi slogans that included "Jewish swine" and "Disgusting Jews." In response, other youth wrote messages to the school’s Jewish students voicing their support. Included were such positive messages such as “Love overcomes hate” and “Love comes in all shapes and colours.”

Iranian General Says Iran is Ready to Destroy Israel

March 19, 2014 Last week, Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami announced that the Iranian military is ready to attack and to destroy Israel when ordered to do so. “Today, we can destroy every spot which is under the Zionist regime’s control with any volume of fire power (that we want) right from here,” Salami told a conference in Tehran last week.

Jordan Parliament Calls for Removal of Israeli Ambassador

March 19, 2014 Last week, after Israeli soldiers killed a Jordanian judge at the Allenby Bridge border crossing, Jordan’s parliament threatened to topple the Jordanian government if it did not remove Israeli ambassador and recall Jordan’s ambassador to Israel. Yesterday, Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour escaped a no-confidence vote by Jordan's parliament. He told the parliamentarians that the government “does not see that expelling the Israeli envoy and recalling the Jordanian ambassador serve the path of our martyr’s case." (Times of Israel)

9 Miniature Dead Sea Scrolls Discovered

March 19, 2014 Nine miniature phylactery scrolls from the Dead Sea collection that have lain unexamined since the 1950s have recently been discovered at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. In Judaism, phylacteries (tefillin) are worn during the morning prayers. They consist of a pair of leather cases, one worn over the forehead and the other wrapped around the arm and pointing toward the heart.

"A blood moon is when the Earth comes between the sun and the moon," Hagee writes. "And the sun is shining through the atmosphere of the Earth and casts up on the moon a red shadow. And so the moon appears to be red." Parasha Tzav (Command!): Remembering the Amalekites on Shabbat Zachor

March 14, 2014 Parasha Tzav begins with the command for the burnt offering (korban olah) and the command to keep the fire burning upon the altar continually. Every morning, the priests were to shovel the ashes of the olah and to kindle wood in the fire to keep it burning. This reveals the continuity of our service to God in the offerings and prayers, one kindling the next. As well, as priests of the Lord, we are to keep a fiery enthusiasm burning in our hearts for our relationship with God. It is natural that there are times when the fire burns down to a lower level, but we must never let the fire totally go out. We must tend to the fire by removing the ashes and placing fresh kindling in the embers lest our service becomes routine and our fire for the Lord dies.
