To help increase the numbers of Arab students in disciplines in which they are underrepresented, the Israeli government has launched a scholarship program geared to help Arab students.

The program, which will award 650 scholarships annually, in the amount of NIS 10,000 ($2,840), beginning with the current academic year is expected to distribute grants totaling NIS 300 million ($85 million) over the next 6 years.

It is a joint initiative involving the Council for Higher Education, the Prime Minister’s Economic Development Authority for the Arab sector, the government Lottery, and several foreign philanthropic organizations.  (JPost)
