Former Israeli president Shimon Peres met with Pope Francis this week to discuss the rise of terrorism in the Middle East. The two talked about “Operation Protective Edge” and the many terrorist activities that Hamas attempted to carry out during the recent conflict. Peres told the Pope, “Hamas’ use of schools, hospitals and mosques as launching pads, and its use of human shields, are opposed to all religious beliefs,” adding, “The war on terror is painful and harms innocents on both sides.” They also discussed the growing threat of the Islamic State in Syria and the threat of Al-Qaeda forces on Israel’s northern border.

Kerry Warns World That ISIS Is Perilously Close to Israel

After the abduction of United Nations' forces in Syria by rebel forces, the Syrian army and rebel Islamic forces continue to battle along Israel’s Golan border with Syria, placing the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on high alert in the Golan Heights. The IDF also ordered farmers and civilians to vacate the Syria border area amid fierce fighting at the Quneitra crossing. On Friday, United States Secretary of State John Kerry called on the world to unite to defeat ISIS terror. “They have already demonstrated the ability to seize and hold more territory than any other terrorist organization, in a strategic region that borders Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey and is perilously close to Israel,” he wrote in a New York Times piece published Friday.

Gaza Ceasefire Holds as Hamas Declares Jerusalem the Ultimate Goal

At a news conference in Doha Qatar on Thursday, Khaled Meshaal described the latest Gaza conflict as being only “a milestone to reaching our objective.” That objective includes taking Jerusalem and the Temple Mount, Judaism’s holiest site. Another statement after the truce announcement by Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri confirmed Jerusalem was among the long term goals: “The time has come for us to say that the true war is not aimed at opening border crossings. Our true war is aimed at the liberation of Jerusalem.”

Journalists Slam Hamas for Censorship in Gaza

In an August 11 statement, the Foreign Press Association (FPA) condemned Hamas for holding international journalists under threat and for censoring stories about Hamas war crimes and terror activities in Gaza during Israel's Operation Protective Edge in July 2014. The FPA berated Hamas for forcing journalists to underplay or ignore the terror group's activities in the Gaza Strip. It claimed forceful threats were used against its journalists, the first such claims by an official organization. (Ynet)

On August 11, the Iranian Armed Forces' deputy chief of staff, Brigadier General Massoud Jazzayeri encouraged "West Bank" Arabs (Arabs in Judea and Samaria) to take part in "more serious fighting" against Israel. "The countdown has started for a change in the model of confrontation in the West Bank," Jazzayeri said to the Iranian state news agency, Fars, adding that "the Palestinian people—especially the youth, resistance forces and warriors—have valuable experiences in fighting the Zionist enemy."

Jerusalem seems to be on the brink of a third intifada as Arab violence incited by Fatah and Hamas boils over in the Jerusalem neighborhoods, the Temple Mount, and elsewhere in Israel. The world shaking events of the last month give us every indication that we are living in prophetic days that are leading up to Yeshua (Jesus) coming back as the King Messiah to reign in Jerusalem. They were preceded by what many are proclaiming a celestial sign: the first eclipse of the year, which coincided with the first night of Passover. This eclipse will be followed by three consecutive lunar eclipses coinciding with the Jewish feasts of Sukkot in 2014 and Passover and Sukkot again in 2015. It is a rare celestial event called the Blood Moon Tetrad.
