At Risk Israeli Farmers Get Bomb Shelters and 500 Helping Hands

Many of the rockets that are fired from the Strip fall in agricultural fields. Until now, no farmer has been hurt, but the crops and fields have suffered. The government has committed to assisting those farmers who have suffered losses to crops and livestock. The director of Yofi Shel Yerakhot (Beautiful Vegetables) a cooperative of farmers in the Negev, said that their members as well as their workers (many of whom are Thai foreign workers), are committed to working the extra hours needed to assure a steady supply of vegetables to Israeli tables despite the crisis of Hamas bombing. Another group of foreign workers—500 Christian volunteers—will be arriving over the next three months to help farmers in Judea and Samaria. They have come as a part of a trip organized by the American Christian organization HaYovel (the Jubilee).

Israeli UN Ambassador Warns Nations Against Terrorism

Speaking before the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Ron Prosor, condemned its malignant anti-Israel bias and warned the international body to “stand with Israel and stand against terror before it’s too late.” “The international community has lost its way,” he said. “This institution was founded to stand for truth, for justice, and for moral clarity. This is no longer the case.” “It might be too much to ask you to stand on our side in this battle between civilization and barbarism, but at least have the decency to swallow your selective outrage while Israel wages war against the extremist groups seeking to eradicate the values that we all hold very dear.”

Peres Parts Presidency Sharing Israel’s Sorrow

In the last days of Shimon Peres' presidency over Israel, the Polish-born 90-year-old met in shared sorrow with the families of some of the 35 Israeli soldiers slain since June 2014 when Hamas escalated its attacks against Israel. Greeting the mourners as if close friends—with heartfelt, compassionate hugs—Peres spent an emotional whirlwind last Monday visiting the loved ones of Bnaya Rubel, 20; Major Amotz Greenberg, 45; and Sgt. Eitan Barak, 20.

Three Israelis Confess to Murder of Abu Khdair

Israel has charged three Jewish men with the kidnapping and killing of 16-year-old Mohammed Abu Khdeir, a Palestinian teenager whose death set off days of violent protests in Arab areas of Jerusalem and northern Israel. Israel responded to the slaying of Khdeir with repulsion and righteous anger, reaching out to the Khdeir family with sympathy. President Shimon Peres expressed his condolences to the father of Mohammed Abu Khdeir, Hussein Abu Khdeir. "I know what you and your family are going through. I am full of shame and share in your grief. He was murdered by criminals. I am ashamed on behalf of my nation and grieve with you. The only thing left for all of us to do is to ensure that no more children are murdered, and no more tears are shed by mothers," Peres told him.
