Jewish Contributions to the World: Flashlight For the Blind

Virtual Cane-mobility-Visually Impaired

May 24, 2013 Christians owe a great debt of gratitude to the Jewish people for these two gifts alone. The Tanakh (Old Testament) and the Brit Chadashah (New Testament), as well as Yeshua (Jesus), the Messiah Himself, came through the Jewish people.

The Red Heifer and the Third Temple
Lubavitcher-Jews-Shabbat-Tefillin

Throughout almost 1900 years of exile, the Jewish people yearned to return to Israel, rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem and restore the Temple service. Three times a day, observant Jews pray, "May the Holy Temple be rebuilt speedily and in our day." Although Jewish people have always lived in the Holy Land, after the Holocaust the Jews began returning to Israel en masse. In 1948, the Jewish nation was prophetically reborn (Isaiah 66:7–8 ) as the State of Israel, and ever since Jews have been streaming back to the Land from all four corners of the earth.

The Name of Yeshua
He Heals the Lame, by James Tissot

Recently, some of our readers have asked us why we use the name Yeshua in the place of Jesus. Other readers challenge us to use Yahshua instead of Yeshua, believing that Yah more accurately reflects the divine nature of Yeshua and is the correct way to pronounce the name of the Jewish Messiah. Still others think the real name of Yeshua is the derogatory Yeshu. Which is correct?

The End-Time Prophecy of Psalm 83
Psalms-IDF-Yom-HaZikaron-Israeli-soldier

End-time experts speak a lot about the Gog-Magog war of Ezekiel 38–39, a prophecy that predicts a powerful confederacy led apparently by Russia that is destined to someday invade Israel. Some think that its fulfillment is even knocking at our door. But a lesser known prophecy is gaining momentum and importance for our day: Psalm 83, in which a different confederacy attempts to wipe out Israel. This psalm seems to be addressing current issues in the Middle East—nations conspiring to destroy Israel.
