This past weekend, the ancient Eliyahu HaNavi Synagogue, which stood in the Jobar neighborhood of Damascus, was destroyed by Syrian Army forces.

Global Study Reveals One in Four People Anti-Semitic

In an unprecedented global survey, the Anti-Defamation League has found that more than one in four adults worldwide (1.09 billion people) hold deeply stereotypical and negative views toward Jews, with the top 16 countries having the greatest percentages of anti-Semitism found in the Middle East. Judea-Samaria-Gaza, Iraq, and Yemen top the charts with index scores of 93 percent, 92 percent and 88 percent, respectively. Palestinians aged 50 and older resoundingly scored high at 98 percent, with their younger counterparts in the 18–49 range scoring 92 percent, the study concluded.

US Congressmen Witnesses Temple Mount Bias

Last week, American legislators visiting Jerusalem saw firsthand the bias against Jews on the Temple Mount, on which the First and Second Temples once stood. The Mount is Judaism's holiest site. The Temple Institute's director, Rabbi Chaim Richman, organized a visit for Congressmen Andrew P. Harris and Ron DeSantis with a group of Jewish worshipers to the Mount. The congressmen personally witnessed how "outwardly looking Jewish groups are singled out and accompanied by both Jordan Islamic Waqf guards and Israeli police officers that scrutinize their behavior for signs of prayer or non-Muslim worship," reported a Temple Institute statement.

In response to escalating violence in the Ukraine, many Ukrainian Jews are now considering moving to Israel. Nineteen arrived last week. One of the arriving immigrants, 23-year-old Daria Gernovski said, “The situation in Ukraine is not good, I don’t see a future there because of the tensions and because of the financial crisis.” (YNet) The changes in government in the Ukraine seem to be leading to a rise in anti-Semitism, which has been reflected in the sentiments of certain extremist elements among those favoring a more politically right leaning society.
