3,800-Year-Old Canaanite Fortress Discovered in the City of David

The City of David National Park has uncovered a 3,800-year-old fortress securing the city's ancient water source, the Gihon Spring. At 3,800 years old, the Canaanite fortress is the largest of its kind ever found in Israel, circling the Gihon Spring as referenced in the Scriptures. The discovery is part of a 15-year excavation led by Eli Shukrun of the Israel Antiquities Authority and Professor Ronny Reich of the University of Haifa.

Parasha Metzora: Four Lepers Who Went From Outcasts to Heroes

This week, Parasha Metzorah continues with the theme of Tazria. In it, God gives Moses the law for the recovered metzora (commonly mistranslated as leper) and the ritual purification of the metzora by the kohen (priest). In Matthew 8:3, Yeshua upholds this law when He heals the leper and tells him, "Show yourself to the priest and present the offering that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them." In accordance with God's command in Leviticus, when the kohen determined that the metzora had healed, he or she underwent a process of ritual cleansing that began with the offering of two birds, one which was sacrificed and the other which was set free.

Concrete Gaza-Israel Terrorist Tunnel Discovered

An Israeli farmer recently spotted the latest and longest-yet concrete tunnel from Hamas territory into Israel, after heavy rains washed away the topsoil that concealed the concrete structure, which reaches almost half a mile into Israel. The Ezzeddeen Al-Qassam Brigades Information Office, said that the find was not a major loss since "this tunnel is old and it was partially collapsed.… We emphasize… pride for the resistance men stationed underground and one the ground who prepared to defend their people and their cause until Palestinians get the victory.”

Israeli Doctors Save Jordanian Boy

Last week, even as the Jordanian parliament was calling for the ousting of Israel’s envoy to Jordan (due to the self-defense killing of a Jordanian judge at the Allenby Bridge crossing), Israeli doctors at Haifa's Rambam Medical Center provided a 7-year-old Jordanian boy with his mother's donated kidney. After the boy faced critical kidney failure, his parents wrote a request to the Civil Administration Health Services for the operation to go forward at Rambam Medical Center.

Last week, it was reported that Iran is recognized by the United States intelligence community as being in the "top 10" of the world's offensive cyber powers (The Christian Science Monitor), 85 US legislators also signed a letter urging President Barack Obama to enforce sanctions against Iran. "We must signal unequivocally to Iran that rejecting negotiations and continuing its nuclear weapon program will lead to much more dramatic sanctions, including further limitations on Iran’s exports of crude oil and petroleum products," the letter states. "We believe any agreement must dismantle Iran’s nuclear weapons program and prevent it from ever having a uranium or plutonium path to a nuclear bomb."
