Last week, Israel broke the Guinness world record for donating the most hair to cancer victims in a single drive.

About 250 women donated their hair so that children with cancer can wear natural hair wigs.

The record-breaking five-hour event resulted in an astonishing 117 pounds of hair, beating the previous record by 10 pounds.

The goal is to create a wig that looks exactly like the hair the child lost, said the Zichron Menachem Association for the Support of Children with Cancer and their Families website.  (Times of Israel)

Cancer survivor Noy Matzari understands how important that is.  It has been four years since she battled the disease, and she remembered it well as her dark locks that had grown back over the past four years were snipped away.

“To be honest, it is extremely difficult to see your hair fall out, and all of a sudden you have no hair,” Matzari said.  “Just as I needed that hair, I’m now going to donate it to girls who need it.”  (Israel Hayom)

The event organizers, Zichron Menachem and Pantene Products Israel, will continue the drive through the end of November at hair salons all over Israel.
