Iran Could ‘Break Out’ by June

According to Washington, Iran could make nuclear bombs by June of this year, if it wanted to. "I think it's public knowledge today that we're operating with a time period for a so-called 'break-out' of about two months," United States Secretary of State John Kerry told the US Senate this past Tuesday. Kerry made the comments the day before Iran and the P5+1—Britain, France, China, Russia, Germany and the United States—concluded a two-day round of talks in Vienna.

Knesset Considers Jewish Prayer on Temple Mount

For the first time ever, a special Knesset subcommittee convened for an in-depth examination of the Jewish right to pray on the Temple Mount, Judaism's holiest site, which while under Israeli control has been administered by the Muslim Waqf. Although no Israeli law bans Jewish prayer, the Jordanian Waqf prohibits Jewish lips from moving in prayer on the Mount, maintaining strict enforcement. The Waqf's administrative role is aided by the presence of Islam's eagle-eyed faithful and the security role of Israeli police, who seemingly aim to diffuse explosive situations on Har haBeit (the Temple Mount) before there is a chance that they develop.

Palestinians Make Outrageous Demands in Bid for Continued Peace Talks

Last Wednesday, as Israel and the Palestinians were on the verge of a deal for the final prisoner release, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas formally applied to gain some of the benefits of statehood outside the peace process, which officially ends April 29. The move was made despite Palestinian promises to stay at the table and not unilaterally seek recognition as a nation at the United Nations during the talks. It is also a violation of the Oslo Accords. Although the PA has indicated its willingness to continue negotiations, it has set new, outrageous conditions for agreeing to extend the peace talks. They include the release of 1,200 more Palestinian prisoners and Israeli recognition of the pre-1967 lines as the future borders of a Palestinian state with east Jerusalem as its capital.

Israel Marks the 35th Anniversary of the Peace Treaty with Egypt

On the 35th anniversary of the Israel-Egypt peace treaty, the Israel State Archives declassified and published online 67 documents, 18 of them in English, including telegrams and letters, records of conversations and government meetings. They tell the tale of Israel's first set of negotiations with Egypt, perhaps, since the Exodus and a peace treaty signed on the White House lawn by Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat on March 26, 1979.

Israeli Troops Get Ready for Possible Iranian Strike as Iran Prepares for Nuclear Holocaust Against Israel

Last week, it was reported that Iran is recognized by the United States intelligence community as being in the "top 10" of the world's offensive cyber powers (The Christian Science Monitor), 85 US legislators also signed a letter urging President Barack Obama to enforce sanctions against Iran. "We must signal unequivocally to Iran that rejecting negotiations and continuing its nuclear weapon program will lead to much more dramatic sanctions, including further limitations on Iran’s exports of crude oil and petroleum products," the letter states. "We believe any agreement must dismantle Iran’s nuclear weapons program and prevent it from ever having a uranium or plutonium path to a nuclear bomb."

Abbas Rejects Israel As a Jewish State

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was given a hero's welcome as he returned home from Washington. Hundreds of Palestinian Authority employees and schoolchildren gathered at his presidential office in Ramallah, thanking him for resisting United States President Barack Obama’s pressure to extend the US-brokered peace talks with Israel, which are set to end April 29, 2014. Before he left for Washington, similar rallies chanted slogans in his support, urging him not to yield to US pressure to make concessions with Israel for the sake of creating a two-state solution.

Last week, during British Prime Minister David Cameron’s first visit to Israel as prime minister, he assured Israelis of his solidarity with the Jewish nation. “With me, you have a British Prime Minister whose belief in Israel is unbreakable and whose commitment to Israel’s security will always be rock solid.‬ “I will always stand up for the right of Israel to defend its citizens, a right enshrined in international law, in natural justice and fundamental morality, and in decades of common endeavor between Israel and her allies,” he told the Israeli Knesset (parliament).

Jordan Parliament Calls for Removal of Israeli Ambassador

Last week, after Israeli soldiers killed a Jordanian judge at the Allenby Bridge border crossing, Jordan’s parliament threatened to topple the Jordanian government if it did not remove Israeli ambassador and recall Jordan’s ambassador to Israel. Yesterday, Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour escaped a no-confidence vote by Jordan's parliament. He told the parliamentarians that the government “does not see that expelling the Israeli envoy and recalling the Jordanian ambassador serve the path of our martyr’s case." (Times of Israel)
