With it big changes seem to be taking shape in the Palestinian struggle for statehood, a struggle which will directly effect the heritage of the Promised Land for the Jewish People. Abbas is currently rallying support before heading for the annual United Nation General Assembly next week on September 24, which is Erev Rosh HaShanah (Jewish New Year’s Eve), at which time he will endeavor to gain support for setting a date for forcing Israel out of Judea-Samaria, Israel’s heartland.

Hamas Rebuilds Tunnels and Amasses Weapons Against Israel

An Al-Jazeera reporter recently reported that Hamas has already begun rebuilding terrorist tunnels for attacking Israel. He was blindfolded and carted to a Hamas tunnel on September 4, 2014, where he conducted a report from inside concrete-lined walls snaking toward Israeli soil. The reporter walked to the end of the tunnel where a masked Jihadi militant scraped dirt away from the end of the tunnel with a hoe. "We are now inside one of the tunnels of the Al-Quds Brigades, on which work began the minute the war on Gaza ended and the ceasefire was declared," the digger told the reporter.

Backed by a bipartisan American commitment, President Barack Obama announced on Wednesday evening his strategy to combat the Islamic State, calling the countries of the Middle East to the helm of the effort. "Israel fully supports President Obama's call for a united action against ISIS," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Thursday, the anniversary of 9/11. "All civilized countries should stand together in the fight against radical terrorism that sweeps across the Middle East that sweeps across the world. And we are playing our part in this continued effort. Some of the things are known, some things are less known."

Israel's Ministry of Agriculture recently sent agricultural expert Itzhak Kosto to Sirsa, India, to lead a two-day pomegranate seminar at the Center of Excellence for Fruits at Mangeana. The center is one of the 20 Indo-Israeli centers in India that helps India resolve agricultural issues using Israeli technology. Meanwhile, India has expressed concern that Israelis traveling there alone and in groups could be targeted during the upcoming High Holy Days.

It must have been a relief for the children of Israel to hear that their prolonged, 40 year journey through the terrible wilderness would finally be coming to an end. They were about to cross over into the Promised Land. In fact, the word in Hebrew for a Hebrew, Ivri, comes from the root I-V-R, which means to cross over. In a spiritual sense, anyone who has crossed over into the Kingdom of God is an Ivri. For that reason, perhaps, Paul said that being a Jew is a matter of having a circumcised heart more than circumcised flesh. He wasn’t negating circumcision, of course; he was emphasizing that to cross over into the Kingdom of God, there must be an inward change. Those who worship God, worship Him in spirit and in truth.

Only one week after Hamas rockets cease to fall over Israel, the two-week-old daughter of an officer in the Palestinian Authority was successfully treated in Israel and given a new chance at life. Fajar, who is from the Gaza Strip, needed open-heart surgery which she received at Holon’s Wolfson Medical Center on Tuesday with the help of the Save a Child's Heart (SACH) organization.

Former Israeli president Shimon Peres met with Pope Francis this week to discuss the rise of terrorism in the Middle East. The two talked about “Operation Protective Edge” and the many terrorist activities that Hamas attempted to carry out during the recent conflict. Peres told the Pope, “Hamas’ use of schools, hospitals and mosques as launching pads, and its use of human shields, are opposed to all religious beliefs,” adding, “The war on terror is painful and harms innocents on both sides.” They also discussed the growing threat of the Islamic State in Syria and the threat of Al-Qaeda forces on Israel’s northern border.
