Tonight, as the sun sets, Yom HaShoah (יום השואה), Holocaust Day, begins. Here in Israel and around the world, the Jewish People face the memory and pain of the Holocaust and say, “Never again.” And for many of us here at the ministry, it is very personal as we lost grandparents, aunts and uncles, who were gassed and then put in the ovens in Auschwitz. And the family members who were not put to death right away were in slave labor camps becoming living skeletons.

Syrian Christians Rescued by Jewish Holocaust Survivor

Lord George Weidenfeld is repaying a debt of gratitude to Christians who helped him escape the Nazis by facilitating the first of many rescues, bringing 42 Christian families out of Syria. "We have been deeply moved by the plight of Christians in conflict-torn Middle East countries, and we are supporting the transfer of Christian families to safe havens where they can lead normal lives," Weidenfeld told The Times of Israel, after the first transfer of 150 people.

“Must-See” Film about Holocaust Hero Jan Karski Opens in Jerusalem

The Menachem Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem presented the first screening outside of Poland of Karski and the Lords of Humanity, a film about the Polish Holocaust hero Jan Karski. As a courier for the Polish underground during World War II, he was assigned to personally deliver his first-hand Holocaust accounts to the leaders of Britain and US, including US President Franklin D. Roosevelt, which he did.

UN General Assembly Holds First Conference on the Global Rise of Anti-Semitism

On Thursday, in response to growing global anti-Semitism, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) held its first conference on the rising global tide of anti-Semitism. Included among the speakers was French philosopher Bernard-Henri Levy who traced the history of anti-Semitism back to its roots, including the blood libels against the Jews, and the claim of responsibility for the killing of the Messiah (Yeshua–Jesus). He also spoke of the present attacks on Israel in the form of boycotts and how such vindictiveness can affect an entire society.

The 70th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz‏: Time to Find a Wise Vision of the Future

Tomorrow is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, and even now Holocaust survivors and heads of state are gathering in Poland to remember this important day. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the infamous concentration and extermination camp where more than a million Jews, Gypsies, Soviets and Poles were murdered. In fact, in 2010, the Federal Security Service of Russia declassified information that revealed more than four million inmates were killed here. (CNN)
