Cave Explorers Find 4th Century BC Treasure Trove

Jerusalem Court Overturns 40-Year Prayer Ban on Temple Mount

March 10, 2015 The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court awarded Jewish Temple Mount activist $126,000 (NIS 500,000) in damages for being banned from visiting the Temple Mount for two years. The ruling also requires police to protect Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount and overturns a gentlemen's agreement of more than 40 years between Israel and the Kingdom of Jordan, which blocked Jewish prayer on the Mount—an agreement meant to preserve peace between the two nations.

Jordan and Israel to Build Red-Dead Sea Pipeline

March 1, 2015 In an agreement that underscores the possibility of real peace in the Middle East while solving environmental problems at the Dead Sea, Israel and Jordan agreed Thursday to undertake a $900 million water project. A desalination plant will be built in the Gulf of Aqaba with a pipeline that will carry the brine byproduct from the Red Sea to the shrinking Dead Sea. "This is the most important and significant agreement since the peace treaty with Jordan," said Israel's regional cooperation minister and the water deal's Israeli signatory, Silvan Shalom. "This is the peak of fruitful and very good cooperation between Israel and Jordan and will assist in rehabilitating the Dead Sea and in resolving water issues in Jordan and the Arava (in Israel)."
