March 1, 2015 This past week, Nir Barkat, Jerusalem's mayor, earned himself the nickname Supermayor after saving an Israeli from a knife-wielding terrorist. Barkat was on his way to the municipality headquarters when he witnessed the pedestrian stabbing this past Sunday. Without hesitation, he jumped out of his car with his bodyguards and ran toward the attacker, tackling him to the ground.

Israeli Divers With Hearts of Gold Discover Treasure Trove in Ancient Port

February 23, 2015 Israeli divers exploring the ancient harbor in Caesarea National Park recently discovered the largest hoard of gold coins ever found in Israel. The divers immediately alerted the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) and brought them to the spot where 2,000 gold coins from the Fatimid period (11th century AD) glistened on the seabed. Included in the collection are various denominations such as dinars, half dinars and quarter dinars.

February 20, 2015 One very special “furnishing” in the Tabernacle was the Aron haBrit (אָרוֹן הַבְּרִית or Ark of the Covenant), which was to be made out of acacia wood covered with gold. In it, the stone tablets of the Ten Commandments were to be laid. According to the Book of Hebrews in the New Covenant (New Testament–Brit Chadashah), it also contained a golden pot with the manna and Aaron’s rod that budded, although it is written in the Book of Kings that at the time of King Solomon, the Ark only contained the two Tablets of stone.
