Iranian Leader Maneuvers to Destroy Israel

November 11, 2014

“The heart of the godly thinks carefully before speaking; the mouth of the wicked overflows with evil words.”  (Proverbs 15:28)

On Saturday night, Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, once again called for Israel’s annihilation. He identified a nine-step action plan to achieve that goal—the details of which he has already presented to international committees.

Under the hashtag #handsoffalaqsa, Khamenei also tweeted a tirade designed to incite additional violence in Israel and perhaps against Jews elsewhere, calling again for the arming of the Palestinians in Israel’s heartland of Judea and Samaria (the West Bank).

“This barbaric, wolflike & infanticidal regime of #Israel which spares no crime has no cure but to be annihilated,” Khamenei wrote.  “West Bank should be armed just like #Gaza.  Friends of Palestine should do their best to arm people in West Bank.”

The Khamenei incitement came after US president Barack Obama was said to have sent the “Supreme Leader” a letter exalting America’s and Iran’s shared objectives in the Middle East, asking the Iranian leader to join with the US in fighting ISIS assuming that a comprehensive deal regarding the country’s nuclear program would be achieved.  (Israel Today)

This isn’t the first outburst this year.  Khamenei called Israel a “rabid dog” and a “rapacious wolf” this July during the Gaza conflict, accusing Israel of genocide and calling for the arming of Palestinians.

“Everyone, whoever has the means, especially in the Islamic world, they should do what they can to arm the Palestinian nation. … The Zionist regime deeply regrets starting this [war] but has no way out,” he said.

In May, on the eve of Nakba Day—the day remembered by Palestinians as their greatest national tragedy; that is, the day on which Israel was established—he tweeted that the Jewish state was a “fake nation” and the “most wicked terrorists.”

Also, in late August, Iranian militia chief Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi took credit for the arming of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, saying that Iran was in the process of also arming West Bank Palestinians for battle against Israel with the aim of annihilating the Jewish state.  (Times of Israel)

While Iran has called for Israel’s destruction before, this current call comes as the deadline for a deal with Iran over its nuclear energy program looms just a little over a week away.  In fact, Secretary of State John Kerry met with Iran’s foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and EU envoy Catherine Ashton in Oman’s capital Muscat on Sunday.

The negotiations involve the easing of US, EU and UN Security Council sanctions against Iran that were put in place in response to their nuclear enrichment program and their refusal to allow onsite inspections.

It is hoped that any agreement will place restrictions on Iran’s uranium enrichment work and any other attempts at creating nuclear weapons in return for a gradual lifting of sanctions.  (YNet)

In response to Khamenei’s tirade and the looming deadline, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent a letter to the foreign ministers of each of the P5+1 countries who are negotiating with Iran—United States, Russia, China, United Kingdom, and France, plus Germany—highlighting the apocalyptic status.

Netanyahu also stated, “There is no moderation in Iran.  It is unrepentant.  It is unreformed.  It calls for Israel’s eradication.  It promotes international terrorism.  And as the IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency] report just said, it continues to deceive the international community about its nuclear weapons program.

“This terrorist regime in Iran must not be allowed to become a nuclear threshold power, and I call on the P5+1 countries—don’t rush into a deal that would let Iran rush to the bomb.”  (YouTube: IsraeliPM)

Speaking at the Likud central committee convention, the Prime Minister also noted the deterioration in human rights in Iran over the last year and the elimination of its citizens while the country expects an agreement that will allow it to keep its nuclear weapons program and continue its aggression against Israel.

Israel’s defense minister Moshe Ya’alon has estimated Iran will be able to produce its first nuclear bomb within a year.

Netanyahu, therefore, has resolved that “Israel will object to any [agreement] that will allow Iran to be a nuclear threshold state.  Israel always reserves the right to defend itself; that is the great right we realized when we established the state of Israel.”  (Arutz 7)
